Zlatoperka is an 18-metre-long fishing boat, the only remaining vessel of the ancient Izola fishing fleet. It was built in 1955 in Betina, a town on the Murter island in Croatia. Made out of oak wood, it was initially powered by a large SKL engine, later replaced by an FAP motor which, in turn, has been substituted by a SCANIA engine a few years ago. Zlatoperka can achieve speeds up to 9 knots.

In 1989, we – namely the Radolovič brothers Sandi and Robert and our father Guido – rented the boat from the then fishing company Riba. Our father was a fisherman since he was a youngster, later he took charge of the entire Izola fishing fleet, in its prime the strongest in former Yugoslavia.

Until 1991 Zlatoperka trawled for fish all the way to Dugi otok, a north Dalmatian island in Croatia. Later, when Slovenia gained independence, we were forced to restrict fishing to the area of the Slovenian sea.

It was then that we decided to remodel it in order to be able to use it for passenger transport too. The stability calculations showed that Zlatoperka can carry up to 70 passengers.

Today, it is used to catch fish in the cooler part of the year (from October to March) while in the warmer one (from April to September) we are involved in passenger transport, in organizing picnics etc.

Zlatoperka is moored at the Izola main pier – i.e., the fishermen's pier. Passengers can thus embark in Izola, but if they want to, they can get on the boat in any other port on the Slovenian coast. Our excursions start as soon as the weather conditions are suitable (April).
